CONFERENCE DATES

This year’s Conference will take place from 18 – 21 June 2008. Committee meetings including the Council meeting will precede the Conference on Wednesday 18 June 2008. A workshop has been organised on Wednesday 18 June 2008.

SOCIAL EVENTS

ECTA requests that during the entire Conference period (18 - 21 June 2008) no other non-official conference events should be arranged.

OFFICIAL LANGUAGE

The official language of the conference is English. No simultaneous translation will be offered.

The currency in Ireland is Euros. All hotels have Bureau de Change facilities.

Participants are advised to arrange adequate travel insurance, as the Conference does not cover persons against cancellation of booking(s), theft or loss of belongings.

CLIMATE AND CLOTHING

The average temperature in June is approximately 15 degrees, but may rise to 20 degrees. Being situated in the path of moist Atlantic air, light rainfall is possible.

ELECTRICAL APPLIANCES

The standard voltage in the Republic of Ireland is 220 volts. Plugs are 3 square pin 1363 type. Most shaving sockets also support 110 volts with the 2 pin international shaving plug.

FROM DUBLIN AIRPORT

Fly: Dublin to Kerry Airport with Aer Arann. Duration 55 mins. Four flights daily.

Train: From Dublin Airport take Blue Aircoach to City Centre: 30mins. Taxi from City Centre to Heuston Train Station. Train direct from Heuston Train Station to Killarney Train Station with Irish Rail. Duration: 3hrs 30mins.

Coach: Bus Éireann operate daily coach services from Dublin (Busáras) to Killarney Bus Station

Car Hire: Budget, Avis & Hertz car hire available. Distance: 316kms. Duration: 4hrs 30mins.

Taxi: Taxi ranks located outside the Airport Terminal, Bus and Rail Stations.

FROM SHANNON AIRPORT

Coach: Bus Éireann operate daily coach services from Shannon Airport to Limerick City Bus Terminal. Transfer at Limerick City for direct coach to Killarney Bus Station. Duration: 2hrs 30 mins

Car Hire: Budget, Avis & Hertz car hire available. Distance: 137kms. Duration: 1hr 30 mins

Train: From Shannon Airport take Bus Éireann coach service to Limerick City Bus & Train Terminal (45 mins). Transfer to Irish Rail train from Limerick City to Limerick Junction. Change at Limerick Junction for Mallow. Change at Mallow for direct train to Killarney.
Duration: 2 hrs 30 mins.

FROM CORK AIRPORT

Coach: Special ECTA Conference Shuttle Service to Conference Hotels at a charge of €60 round trip (Non-refundable).This service is available to Killarney on Tuesday 17 June and Wednesday 18 June only and return transfers on Saturday 21 June and Sunday 22 June only.

Train: From Cork Airport take Cork Airport Shuttle to Cork City Bus Station. The train station is a 10 minute walk from the bus station. A taxi is advisable. Direct train service from Cork Train Station to Killarney Train Station with Irish Rail. Duration: 1hr 30 mins
