Gap of Dunloe
Cost per person €125
A tour where words cannot do true justice. The Gap of Dunloe is truly
spectacular. A valley created by glacial movement, the Gap of Dunloe is
one of Ireland’s infamous tourist attractions. We travel by coach to Kate
Kearney’s Cottage and then by jaunting car through the Gap of Dunloe,
stopping off at Lord Brandon’s Cottage. Here we have a barbeque lunch
overlooking Serpent’s lake; Irish folklore states that this is the resting place
for the last of the snakes driven out of Ireland by St. Patrick. After lunch,
we travel by open boat across the Lakes of Killarney passing by Eagle's
Nest mountain, the inspiration for Alfred Lord Tennyson’s poem "Set the
wild echoes flying". Our docking point is Ross Castle, built by a chieftain
in the 15th century and recently restored to it’s full glory. Walking shoes
advised.
