Membership

By becoming an ECTA member, you will not only be able to attend the ECTA conferences on IP matters at a reduced rate but also benefit of a full range of services such as receiving the regular ECTA Flash newsletter informing you of ongoing IP matters.

Various categories of members exist, according to the following criteria:

Ordinary Members (annual subscription € 255,00)

Nationals of one of the Member States of the EU having their place of business or employment in a Member State and being entitled to practice before the OHIM (Articles 92 and 93 of the EC Regulation).

Associate Members (annual subscription € 255,00)

A Person who is not a national of a Member State, but who has his place of business or employment in a Member State and is entitled to practice as a professional representative before the Trade Marks Registry of the Member State in which he has his place of business or employment, or
A person who is entitled to practice as a professional representative before the Trade Marks Registry of the country outside the EU in which he has his place of business or employment; and, in each case: unless he is so entitled by possession of a special professional qualification, has habitually so practised for at least five years; and be involved in the Trade Mark matters of the EU or Member States of the EU.

Affiliate Members (annual subscription € 255,00)

Persons who other than as a professional representative, are involved in trade mark matters in the EC or Member States

Corporate Members (annual subscription € 350,00)

Corporate entity either:

incorporated in a Member State; or having a presence through an entity which is a national of a Member State or is domiciled or has a real and effective industrial or commercial establishment in a Member State, and which does not provide legal advice to third parties as part of its business.

Student Members (annual subscription € 127,50)

Nationals of one of the Member States who are undergraduates or post-graduates undertaking a full time course of study at a university in a Member State, and who have an interest in the law of trade marks and designs.

Recently graduated Members (annual subscription € 127,50)

Nationals of one of the Member States who have completed a full time course of study and graduated from a university in a Member State, and who have an interest in the law of trade marks and designs. Application to be made within three years of completion of course.

Retired Members (annual subscription € 127,50)

Persons who have been an Ordinary Member, an Associate member or an Affiliate member for a continuous period of no less than five years, and are no longer active in trade mark practice.
